![]() ![]() ![]() LICA has also established free Annual Open Studios events for the public to visit. LICA has acted as a forum for its members, as well as other art organizations, to learn the ropes of grant applications, marketing and publicizing original work, and coping with legal complications that arise in the art world. The organization represents more than 250 artists and has provided its members, and others, spaces in which to exhibit their visual art and sculpture, halls to perform their dance and music, and theaters to show their videos and original plays. Long Island City Artists was established in the 1980s and for the last 35 years has been serving as an advocate for local artists. ![]() I can testify to its unique place and function in the New York City/Queens art world. LICA, as it is widely known, is an artist-founded arts advocacy group of which I’ve been an active member since 1987, and that I am proud to have served pro bono for over nine years as board president. We all have much to do, people to see, and gifts to give, but I am asking that you also consider making a donation to an organization that I truly value, Long Island City Artists, Inc. It is the end of the year and we are in the midst of the holiday season. LIC Artists (LIC-A) brings the arts to the community while serving local artists in the process. ![]()
